Responsible for the design, analysis, and development of mechanical components and assemblies used in power transformer systems. This role ensures all engineering designs meet applicable technical specifications, safety standards, manufacturing requirements, and industry regulations. Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, including structural analysis, tolerances, clearances, material selection, structural integrity, and manufacturability. Design mechanical components of power transformers (including tanks, core frames, bushings, and structural assemblies) using SolidWorks and AutoCAD, ensuring compliance with functional, safety, and performance requirements. Develop detailed engineering drawings, 3D models, and technical documentation to support manufacturing, assembly and quality assurance processes. Perform engineering analysis, including stress evaluation, design validation, and performance-based design modifications based on testing feedback. Apply mechanical engineering principles to determine appropriate material selection based on structural, thermal, and industry requirements. Collaborate with electrical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and CNC/Laser operators to ensure accurate interpretation and implementation of engineering specifications. Ensure all designs comply with applicable safety standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality standards, while optimizing manufacturability, cost, and production efficiency. Provide engineering support to manufacturing operations by resolving design-related issues and improving manufacturability from an engineering design perspective. Maintain engineering documentation, including specifications, SOPs, and technical guidelines related to transformer product development. Req.: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, + 60 months of progressive experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer. Experience must include mechanical design of industrial or heavy equipment components, preferably in transformer or energy-related. Strong problem-solving and attention to detail. Physical Demands The physical demands described here represent what an employee needs to perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made so that individuals with disabilities can perform the essential functions. Sit for long periods while working at a computer with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and multiple monitors. Use hands and fingers for keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment. Close vision and the ability to adjust focus to review detailed drawings, 3D models, and documents on screen and on paper. Walk and stand on the manufacturing floor to check designs, take measurements, and support production and assembly. Occasionally bend, kneel, climb, or reach to inspect transformer tanks, core frames, and assemblies. Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 lbs., such as drawings, samples, or small parts. Communicate clearly with engineering, production, quality, CNC/laser operators, and customers, both verbally and in writing. Work Environment Mainly an office or engineering environment at the Indiantown, FL facility. Regular time on the manufacturing floor, with moderate to high noise levels, CNC and laser cutting equipment, overhead cranes, and transformer oil. Required personal protective equipment (PPE) on the floor includes safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection. Occasional travel to suppliers, customer sites, or other company facilities may be required.
