On behalf of our clients, we are seeking an experienced Electrical BIM Engineer to join their team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically proficient, and capable of delivering accurate, coordinated electrical BIM models and documentation in a dynamic project environment. About the Position The Electrical BIM Engineer will be responsible for developing and coordinating electrical and low-current BIM models from detailed design through installation and final handover. The role involves preparing shop drawings, resolving multidisciplinary clashes, supporting technical office activities, and ensuring that all electrical models and as-built deliverables meet project specifications and installation requirements. - Develop and update electrical BIM models from LOD 300 to LOD 400, including power distribution, lighting, cable containment, earthing, lightning protection, and low-current systems such as fire alarm, CCTV, access control, data, BMS, PA, and nurse call. - Create detailed installation-ready models for cable trays, ladders, trunking, conduits, fittings, bends, tees, reducers, supports, hangers, threaded rods, and anchoring systems. - Model electrical equipment, including switchgear, distribution boards, transformers, generators, UPS systems, busbar risers, and panels, using manufacturer-specific families and accurate technical parameters. - Ensure compliance with equipment access requirements, maintenance clearances, panel working spaces, cable-pulling zones, and access provisions around trays and manholes. - Prepare coordinated electrical shop drawings, including power and lighting layouts, containment routes, elevations, dimensions, single-line diagrams, panel schedules, riser diagrams, and detailed sections for congested areas. - Coordinate cable routing, sizing information, cable schedules, tray capacity, and cable fill requirements with the relevant project disciplines. - Coordinate structural openings, sleeves, penetrations, and fire-stopping requirements with architectural and structural teams, and prepare the necessary builders’ work information (BWIC). - Verify lighting layouts and perform illumination calculations using DIALux or Relux, ensuring consistency between calculations and the BIM model. - Manage electrical clash detection and resolution using Navisworks, coordinating with mechanical, structural, and architectural models and following the project’s routing priorities. - Generate material take-offs and quantity reports for cables, containment systems, fittings, accessories, and electrical equipment to support BOQs, procurement, and cost estimation. - Assist with technical submittals by updating BIM families to match approved manufacturers’ specifications, dimensions, and product data. - Develop and deliver LOD 500 as-built models, incorporating verified installed routes, equipment serial numbers, circuit references, testing and commissioning records, and O&M documentation links. Job Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline. - 5–8 years of experience in Electrical BIM, particularly in detailed modelling for installation and construction. - Strong knowledge of BIM delivery standards, including ISO 19650 Parts 1 and 2, BIM Execution Plans (BEP), MIDP/TIDP, and Common Data Environment (CDE) workflows. - Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit MEP – Electrical, Navisworks Manage, and AutoCAD. - Experience with Autodesk Forma for Construction, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), or the former BIM 360 platform. - Proven ability to perform clash detection, manage clash matrices, track coordination issues, and follow up on their resolution. - Experience in developing custom Revit families, managing parameters, and maintaining accurate BIM content. Dynamo knowledge is an advantage. - Ability to interpret technical specifications, contract documents, consultant drawings, and project requirements. - Technical office background covering shop drawings, material submittals, BOQs, quantity take-offs, RFIs, and as-built deliverables. - Valid professional syndicate or engineering board registration, where applicable. - Good command of English for technical reports, documentation, and professional correspondence.
