**Position:** Product Design Engineer - Centrifugal Compressors **Status:** Exempt, Full Time **About Us** Fox Innovation & Technologies Inc. (“FOX”) is a global leader in turbomachinery engineering, manufacturing, and aftermarket services delivering advanced rotating equipment solutions for the oil and gas, power generation, and process industries. FOX is more than a service provider. We are an OEM-caliber engineering and manufacturing hub capable of reengineering, revamping, and remanufacturing complex machinery to meet the most demanding operational requirements. Our team combines deep industry expertise with rapid-cycle turnaround and world-class proprietary technologies to deliver OEM or better-quality solutions across centrifugal compressors, pumps, turbines, valves, and other mission-critical rotating equipment. With best-in-class field service capabilities, precision machining, and turnkey project execution, FOX provides the technical horsepower and responsiveness that global operators depend on. Our commitment to quality, safety, and reliability drives everything we do — from the shop floor to the field. **The Opportunity** We are seeking a mechanically inclined Product Design Engineer with specialized expertise in centrifugal compressors to provide engineering support for repair, overhaul, reverse engineering, rerates, revamps, and modernization of critical compressor equipment. This is not a conventional desk-bound design role - it is a dual role that exists at the intersection of engineering excellence and hands-on execution. This individual will develop engineered solutions for centrifugal compressor components and assemblies using engineering software, physical inspection, teardown findings, field or shop measurements, and legacy documentation. The role works directly with operations - from machinists and welders to project managers and field teams - to restore, improve, or remanufacture compressor equipment. This is your chance to apply deep centrifugal compressor knowledge in a dynamic, growth-minded company where engineering decisions are realized on the shop floor, in the field, and through innovative manufacturing. **Responsibilities** - Reverse engineer centrifugal compressor equipment and components using field or shop data, physical inspection, teardown findings, and legacy documentation. - Perform mechanical calculations and analyses (e.g., bolting, stress, deflection, fits/clearances, and tolerance stack-up) to support compressor repair, rerate, and manufacturing decisions. - Use SolidWorks and other engineering software to create or validate models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings for compressor components and repair solutions. - Review and approve detailed drawings for centrifugal compressor components such as impellers, shafts, diaphragms, diffusers, seals, bearings, couplings, and casings, with appropriate GD&T and assembly considerations. - Translate compressor inspections, dimensional data, and teardown findings into clear engineering instructions for manufacturing, refurbishment, and assembly teams. - Lead and participate in internal design reviews, customer bid clarifications, project kickoff meetings, and technical discussions involving compressor scope, rerates, revamps, and repair strategy. - Provide engineering disposition and problem-solving support directly on the shop floor and, when required, in the field in coordination with quality, machinists, welders, field service, and operations staff. - Create internal engineering documentation packages that define compressor repair, reengineering, rerate, or modernization solutions in alignment with FOX procedures and client specifications. - Support drawing release and revision workflows in accordance with document control standards, including incorporation of as-found and as-built conditions. - Ensure repaired or newly manufactured compressor components fit together correctly in final assembly and meet client expectations for function, quality, and maintainability. **Qualifications** - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or another related field is required. - At least five (5) years of engineering experience in a manufacturing, repair, or rotating equipment environment, with meaningful hands-on exposure to centrifugal compressors. - Demonstrated experience with centrifugal compressor inspection, repair, overhaul, reverse engineering, rerates, revamps, or component design is strongly preferred. - Strong familiarity with centrifugal compressor construction and critical components, including impellers, shafts/rotors, diaphragms, diffusers, seals, bearings, couplings, and casings. - Familiarity with API Standards applicable to centrifugal compressors and rotor repair, especially API 617 and API 687. - Proficient in SolidWorks and familiar with 3DExperience or similar PLM platforms. - Proficient in mechanical calculations and machine design principles, including GD&T, fits/clearances, tolerance stack-up, and manufacturing methods such as turning, milling, grinding, and welding. - Ability to interpret compressor teardown data, dimensional inspections, legacy drawings, and incomplete or outdated technical information and convert them into practical engineered solutions. - Mechanically inclined and energized by shop floor interaction, not just behind a computer. - Comfortable with dirty hands and steel-toed boots - you thrive in a dynamic, hands-on, industrial environment. - Strong attention to detail and the ability to bridge the gap between engineering theory, compressor operating realities, and practical execution. - Confident communicator who works well with cross-disciplinary teams - engineers, machinists, welders, field personnel, project managers, and clients. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimal supervision. **Physical Demands & Work Environment** The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the functions. - Industrial machine shop environment with possible travel between facilities. - Occasional extended hours based on operational or customer needs. - Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. - Requires sitting, standing, bending, walking, and using hands/tools for extended periods. **Equal Employment Opportunity** Fox Innovation & Technologies Inc. is an equal opportunity organization. We recruit, employ, train, compensate, and promote without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, age, gender, marital status, disability, protected veteran status, or any other basis protected by applicable federal, state or local law.
