Position Summary
The Product Design Engineer 2 creates and maintains 3D models, 2D drawings, and manufacturing files for Watlow products. This role focuses on executing design work within standard platforms, using established options while working under guidance and guiding others, become a Subject Matter Expert in various design pieces of knowledge such as in CAD, GD&T, Watlow drafting standards, and business processes. Builds & supports standards around safe, compliant, and manufacturable designs.
Key Responsibilities
Continuously improve product and process design methods, based on defined design and process standards and trade-off curves. Produce agency-compliant and manufacturable designs by coordinating with Product Solutions Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Quality, among others, and/or as indicated by explicit documentation.
Convert customer requirements into 3D SolidWorks models and 2D drawings using standard templates and following Watlow standards.
Create and maintain part numbers, bills of materials, work instructions and other data in company ERP system.
Assist in troubleshooting product design-related issues in manufacturing and/or for external customer technical issues.
Perform product-, or process-, engineering change orders.
Participate in Quality investigations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related work experience
Proficiency with 3D CAD (preferred: SolidWorks)
Moderate-to-advance level Excel and general computer skills

Primarily on-the-job training
Work Environment
Office and CAD workstation environment with frequent collaboration via Teams/Outlook across sites within same time zone.
Occasional time on the shop floor to review builds, understand manufacturability, and close the loop on design issues.
