Architectural Drafter (Residential Design + Build)
Full-Time | Onsite | Mountain View, CA
Join an award-winning, employee-owned Design + Build firm where your technical expertise, precision, and attention to detail help transform residential design concepts into beautifully built homes.
At Harrell Design + Build, we're looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Architectural Drafter to join our collaborative Design Team. In this role, you'll work alongside experienced designers, estimators, and construction professionals to develop accurate, coordinated, and buildable architectural drawings for residential remodeling projects.
From kitchens and bathrooms to whole-home remodels and additions, you'll play an essential role in bringing designs to life, ensuring that every drawing clearly communicates design intent and supports a seamless transition from concept through construction.
What You'll Do
As a key member of our Design Team, you will:
- Develop accurate and detailed architectural drawings for all project phases, including existing conditions, schematic design, design development, permitting, and construction.
- Conduct site visits to document existing conditions through field measurements, photographs, and project information.
- Prepare construction documents, architectural details, permit sets, and renderings that clearly communicate design and construction intent.
- Review drawings for technical accuracy, completeness, building code requirements, and constructability.
- Coordinate architectural plans with engineering, Title 24 requirements, material selections, specifications, and consultant documents.
- Collaborate with Designers, Estimators, and Production teams to ensure drawings align with project scope, budgets, and construction requirements.
- Incorporate revisions and redlines from internal teams, consultants, and permitting agencies.
- Support the Production team by providing updated drawings, construction details, and technical clarifications throughout the building process.
- Identify potential design conflicts, missing information, and construction challenges, working proactively with team members to resolve them.
- Maintain and improve drafting templates, drawing standards, architectural details, and shared drawing libraries.
- Manage multiple project priorities while maintaining accuracy, organization, and timely deliverables.
Projects range from kitchen and bathroom renovations to whole-home remodels and residential additions.
