TasNetworks

TasNetworks is a Tasmanian Government-owned corporation that provides electricity transmission, distribution, and telecommunications services throughout Tasmania. Established on July 1, 2014, through the merger of Transend Networks and Aurora Energy’s distribution division, it operates as a regulated monopoly under the Australian Energy Regulator.The company manages a vast infrastructure, including 3,577 circuit kilometers of transmission lines and 22,400 kilometers of distribution lines, ensuring reliable electricity delivery to over 300,000 households and various businesses across the state. TasNetworks also operates a fiber-optic network that supports its electricity operations and serves external industries. In addition to electricity services, it offers metering, safety education programs, and support for renewable energy integration, including over 20,000 solar PV systems. TasNetworks is committed to enhancing customer service and promoting renewable energy as part of Tasmania's energy transition.
